Yesterday was a remarkable day! The services were beautiful celebrations of God’s grace which has been proclaimed among us for 31 years. The annual meeting was well attended, new leaders were elected, and we adopted a new ministry budget for 2019. A word of thanks to the executive committee for the difficult, but important work of creating a conservative budget so that we may operate within our means. Also, to the nominating committee who made calls and to all those who said yes to serving in various positions on the council.
The most poignant moment for me yesterday happened at the 10:30am service. The choir sang “Jesus Loves Me” with an updated melody line, but then handed the piece off to 20 or so children who sang the song with its traditional melody. It was the perfect image of who we are and why we exist. We are not passing on the latest fad or the newest message, but we are telling the story of Jesus, his life and ministry, and his death and resurrection. We are inviting others to follow him, all the way to eternal life. We are sharing that hope across the generations and to all who walk through our door. People are hearing about Jesus, experiencing his love, and their lives are being changed and transformed. Thanks for being a part of that.
Thanks be to God!
