Dear Friends in Christ –

I don’t know about you, but this experience has been a roller coaster for me. Our lives have been upended in so many ways. Our ministry of presence and fellowship has been deeply hindered in a world that (for very good reason) is social-distancing and staying home. There are good days and there are not-so-good days. Some of the stressors we know and others are unseen and imagined. Last Friday, Pope Francis made his way to an empty Saint Peter’s Square and offered an extraordinary address and prayer for an end of the coronavirus. I have included the link below; it is worth the read. His address was based on Mark 4, and the surprising storm that overtook Jesus’ disciples on the Sea of Galilee.
The question: “Why are you afraid? Have you no faith?” becomes a constant refrain. As I read it, I was reminded of my selfish individualism, my deep sadness at temporary losses, and my weakness in faith. And yet, all along the way, I have watched you care for one another. I have seen your response to God’s Word on my Instagram account and the church’s Facebook page. I have been bolstered and buoyed by your prayers and encouragement. I can only hope and pray the same is true for you. Please know that I am committed to sharing the Word with you in the coming weeks in as many ways as possible. And, as always, you remain in my prayers. “Even the wind and the waves obey” our Lord Jesus Christ. May we have the courage and faith to do so also.

Blessings and Encouragement on your week!
Pastor Culynn
