Over the last year, I was too wound up in the constant state of change brought about by the pandemic that I didn’t sleep well, didn’t pray near often enough, and I hardly read anything new. Usually, I save articles from newsfeeds and tend to an additional book or two, alongside preparations for sermons and studies. Not in the last year. Bare minimum is all that I could concentrate on.
But that all ended last week! In addition to my daily Bible readings, I am about finished with THE HAMMER OF GOD, three novellas about a Swedish church at three different points in history. The book is written by a bishop who knew the challenges of parish life and the comfort of the Gospel. Things will be slower throughout the summer; we’ll get back into the rhythm of being a worshipping community and tend to our fellowship and conversation. Meanwhile, I will be getting caught up on my reading list, doing a little continuing education, and preparing for our fall ministry!
