Dear Friends in Christ –

By the time you receive this notice, first days of school will be wrapped up, and the patterns of the school year will be emerging in your families. In Sunday’s children’s message and sermon, we talked about the importance of prayer, of sharing our joys and sorrows with God and with one another. What better time to develop the habits of prayer for one another.
The method of the Five Finger Prayer invites us to remember five things when we pray:
1) Get God’s attention
2) Tell God, “Thank you…”
3) Make a request, “Help us/me…”
4) Pray in Jesus’ name.
5) Pray with certainty, using the Hebrew word, “Amen.”
Reading Ephesians 6 and Eugene Peterson’s reflections last week, I was convicted of my self-sufficiency and reluctance to ask for help. So, pray for our church and pray also for me; that the Spirit would inspire the ministry we do together and also, that I would be equipped to preach, teach, and lead among you.

Living in perseverance and prayer,
Pastor Culynn
