Dear Friends in Christ –

We are people made for relationship and fellowship. God hard-wired us this way from the beginning. Even in Genesis 2, God saw that it was not good for the dirt-creature to be alone, so he gave him the woman. This need is innate to human experience. But the last two years have really messed up our interactions and fellowship. In some ways, we’ve had to relearn how to do that.
I’m sure that you have meaningful relationships that were sustained. Others were put on hold and have emerged with new patterns…that’s the way of our life now. You have your families, close friends, Friday night supper groups, card clubs, fishing buddies, book clubs, sports family groups, the list goes on.
Over the weekend, I really needed community support; and boy did I get it! And it was the family of faith that stepped up and supported me. It was a family who helped with my kids; it was seasoned parents who reminded me that we’ll get through it. It was the church council that promised to pray for me. It was someone who declared to the pastor: “Your sins are forgiven, for Jesus’ sake.” That is what is unique about the community of faith. We tap into a greater power, a transcendent spirit, an incredible/immortal/unconditional love. If you’ve been trying to figure out where you belong, please know that the church–not the building, but the people–are ready to welcome you home! This is a tremendous gift that I have experienced…and I know you will do that for each other too.

Heart full of gratitude,
Pastor Culynn
