In the coming days, media and society will reflect on the triumphs and challenges from the last year. These are natural responses and help us to grow and progress in our human experience.
The Christian does not need the New Year for a new beginning. Luther writes, “The old sinner in us, together with all sins and evil desires should be drowned and sink, and EVERY DAY, a new creation should come forth and live before God in righteous and purity forever.” A new beginning and your new life start everyday, because Christ called you to the struggle between old and new in your Baptism. This struggle will continue in this life and will be completed when in death, God resurrects you to the joy and splendor of that eternal day!
