Over the weekend, the President and the CDC along with Governor Walz and the MN Dept. of Health have given their recommendations and guidance on how to safely open our church buildings and return to in-person worship. Thankfully, the church council and I had already prepared a “Return to Church” Policy and had it waiting in the wings. Unfortunately, due to the timing of these announcements and the holiday weekend, the church council and I have not had a chance to convene. We already had a meeting scheduled for June 8. I would imagine that we all are anxious to return to church in-person, but our feelings are mixed. I want to thank you for your flexibility as we have adjusted nearly every aspect of our ministry; as well as your patience as we navigate the complexity of these new guidelines and implement our new plan. I will be in touch as we know more.
On Sunday, I reminded you that Jesus called his apostles to “wait” and I encouraged you to be in prayer. A few prayer requests:
- As I mentioned on Sunday, please be in prayer for the Churches of St. Timothy & St. Ignatius and their clergy: Monsignor Callaghan, Father Andrew, and Father Meyer.
- For the church council and me, that we make informed decisions to ensure the spiritual and physical well-being of our congregation.
- For our fellow members, especially the elderly and high-risk, who are encouraged to stay home and safe. You might consider reaching out to others with a phone call or a letter.
Dear Church, I miss you, but I am grateful for your witness and love in the world.
