Dear Friends in Christ –

On Sunday morning, I drove to church in thick fog. I thought to myself: “What a perfect metaphor for our life right now. Most of us know the way. We understand where we need to go, what we have to do, etc., and yet we are making our way in the fog. It cleared up a bit as I pulled into Maple Lake, but then the haze emerged again as I came north. But wouldn’t you know?! There stood our church.
Obviously, the building is not what makes us the church; it’s much more fun when it’s full of people. And yet, there was a comfort in seeing our steeple. The cross standing erect and proclaiming the message of love and life available in Christ. As I mentioned in my sermon yesterday, even when I am not at my best, we are still in God’s care and keeping. The promise of salvation remains. Even as we seek, so also we are sought.
Holding you all in prayer, even as we are held in God’s hand,

Pastor Culynn
