Dear Friends in Christ –

How is your joy this week? During the third Sunday of Advent, we step away from the waiting and preparation and remember that Christ has already come to earth and that he has promised to come again. Such news fills us with holy fear and heavenly joy! But my guess is that fabricating joy during this holy season has been a challenge. We are weary from the continued divisions in our country and exhausted by pandemic fatigue.

Dear friends, might I remind you that joy cannot be fabricated…it happens upon us; surprising us with delight and gratitude. While the world all around us is sharing all sorts of information, noise, and news; turn your ears and hearts heavenward. Remember that Christ was given for you, yes, even you who did not expect such a heavenly gift for yourself. It was not about our worthiness, but about God’s unconditional love for us. As we draw ever closer to Christmas…listen for Christ…he is risen with healing in his wings. He is the comfort of the prophets promised long ago. His name is Jesus, it starts with J. The J stands for Joy!

Blessings on your week! Pastor Culynn
