I am thinking about the last words of my sermon yesterday: “Christ is capable of catching you in his grace, carrying you in your exhaustion, and calling and equipping you for the work and mission of the kingdom of God.” Too often, we try to go it our own way, make a name for ourselves, earn our keep, pull ourselves up by the boot straps, etc. etc. In Luke 5, Jesus invites Peter to leave all of that rigamarole behind.
As we face another week, learn the grace of God in Christ. Beyond all your achievements or impressions…trust that God loves you simply because you are one of his creatures, loved so much that he was willing to redeem you. Learn the grace of God in Christ: Find rest for your soul in the One who holds the future and your fear and organizes each of them. Learn the grace of God in Christ: By the power of the Spirit, he blesses the world through your gifts and talents at work in your life.
May the grace of God catch, carry, and equip you this week!
