Dear Friends in Christ –

Last year, many of you tuned into the Advent Calendar devotions that my children and I hosted via Facebook live. It was a fun moment in time and a cute way to share the story. In all honestly, Meg and I really intended to share them with you again this year…but the first week in December has been very busy. I wasn’t home for two nights and Meg was out-of-town too. That meant the kids were shipped off to Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house. In fact, the nativity scene is still quite stark. And I just set up our Advent wreath for Sunday supper (a week late).
That’s the thing about Advent…it has been associated with the preparation necessary to get ready for Christmas. Whether it’s Countdowns-to-Christmas or making sure the decorations are in place, or getting the tree up and the presents wrapped, Advent preparation is just another to-do list with festive flair, which does nothing other than lead to frustration and failure (at least for me). In this season, there is already enough to do…how about we revel in the true meaning of Advent. The word means “Coming.” And that’s what’s so wonderful: Advent is a time to remember that Christ has Come. Christ is Coming. And Christ will come again. I may be behind in all my preparations, but in Christ and for faith…I have all I need.

Advent Blessings,
Pastor Culynn
