Dear Friends in Christ –

Last weekend, Meg, the kids, and I really enjoyed the Saint Patrick’s Day Celebration. It was chilly…that’s how it goes the second weekend in March. Nevertheless, it was a wonderful day, and the kids gladly banked candy at the parade! Now, we’re gearing up for another exciting weekend. It isn’t a national holiday, but it’s a big deal in our family: NCAA March Madness!
There is also another kind of madness going on. The season of Lent confronts us with similar story lines. Two powerhouses face off in a tournament of wills. The sinner on the one side destroys opponents, spits out rivals, and overcomes every temptation that does not serve his purposes. On the other side is “a champion who comes to fight: Jesus Christ, the Lord of Hosts is he.” While his bracket is no match for his might, the championship game comes down to the matchup on Calvary’s hill. Humanity puts up its dastardly fight, but nothing can destroy the Messiah’s plight. It is an unbelievable comeback; what once was hopeless is now alive! Those who keep the faith and trust in Him will see the victory complete indeed! It is madness: An opponent whose loss is a win, whose death is salvation. That’s what this Holy Season is all about. Join us as we draw ever closer to the Great Three Days!
Blessed Lententide to you all,
Pastor Culynn
