Dear Friends in Christ –

Last weekend, our family made a real quick trip to South Dakota for a friend’s wedding and to see my family. The fall colors we viewed on our drive were spectacular! Along the way, one of us would point out the window to make sure that the others saw the beauty all around us. Our conversations were interrupted by the kids shouting, “Combine!” every time we passed a field being harvested.
As farmers gather in the bounty of this year’s harvest, please keep them in your prayers. Back home, there have been several combine fires that destroyed machinery, and with the high winds, fire swallows up pastures and fields. This is their livelihood and our food.
For so many people, it is hard to enjoy the autumn because we are dreading what comes next. And yet, creation is a gift to us. As the thanksgiving hymn suggests: “All is safely gathered in/ere the winter storms begin. God our maker doth provide/for our wants to be supplied.” Enjoy what’s left of this glorious season!

With a heart full of gratefulness,
Pastor Culynn
