Dear Friends in Christ –

A few weeks ago, our confirmation students discussed the second and third commandments. We talked about the proper use of God’s name and the importance of Sabbath: to stop work, so that we can rest and be renewed in God’s Word. Then the confirmation students and their mentors spent time at experiential Prayer Stations. They prayed as they colored, wrote letters to God, let sand fall through their fingers, used Eastern Orthodox icons, remembered the nations of the world before the throne of grace, prayed with a partner, and also lit candles. The time went by very quickly! It was a quiet evening, peaceful and meaningful. All of it took place in our sanctuary.
Sanctuary: A sacred place of worship; a house consecrated to the worship of God; a place where divine service is performed; a sacred asylum; shelter; protection. When you come into God’s house, may you experience the rest and renewal that God intended. May you cast your cares upon the Lord, and then be sustained by the promises of Jesus.
