As the old saying goes: “When the cat’s away, the mice will play!” That may have been true on Sunday! My family was in South Dakota to attend a family wedding. It was a special time and really fun too. On Sunday morning, while we were enjoying swimming and brunch, you all gathered for worship. Here’s the difference: You all had a great time, but you weren’t playing. Our cat never goes away! The Triune God is always there and always ready to hand over the goods to his people! You gathered in the Holy House of God, receiving the gifts of God promised to you in Jesus Christ. The forgiveness of sins was proclaimed, the Word–in law and promise–was preached and heard. The Sacrament was distributed rightly by a lay presider with Council approval. It was good to get away and celebrate with my family. It was great that God’s celebration was not neglected in my absence. These are all things for which we can give our thanks and praise!
Blessings on your week,
Pastor Culynn
