Last week I walked into the church office. Just hours from the start of Day Three of VBS: Desks were cluttered, some branches were lying about. I vaguely remember piles of birthday party favors and gift wrapping strewn across the floor. Reading the room, I knew this was not a good time to bring up Fall Ministry! Jean, Meg, and I have joked that Summer is divided into two: “VBS and After VBS.”
Vacation Bible School is so valuable! First and foremost: Everyone who participates wades into the Word of God. We spend four days learning about sinner-saints like us from the story of the Bible. Second: Christian friendships are created and relationships are built across generations. Third: We have loads of fun! Luther wrote that faith is a living and active thing, not stoic or stodgy. Fourth: The joy and excitement–no matter how tiring it may be–is like a shot in the arm! It energizes our faith and our enthusiasm for the future of the church, both her ministry and her people! Thank you for the countless ways you supported VBS last week! It was so amazing! And with only a few weeks left of summer, we’re getting things ready for an exciting Fall!
Blessed to be a Blessing with you!
