Jean Wagner and I are in Saint Charles for the LCMC Gathering. During this time, we’ve attended worship, Bible study, keynote addresses, focus group discussions and breakout sessions; and of course, fellowship. The theme of the Gathering was ALL HANDS ON DECK and invited us to think together about what shape our association will take heading into our third decade together.
The cultural convulsion (in the 38th month of 2020 as someone spoke of) and the temptation to make church be attractive and relevant could throw us off track. Yet, we‘ve been reminded that Christ is in the boat with us. He alone has the power to calm the wind and the waves. We can cling to Him, knowing that remaining in his presence will bring about transformational and permanent change. Christ keeps being Christ to us. He is not worried about the storms and stress of this time! He is the Lord of creation and the hope of His Church. So, we might as well reach out and grab a hold of him!
