On Sabbatical, I was able to turn to the liturgy of Morning Prayer and Evening Prayer every day. It was wonderful to have the Word of God start my day and send me off to sleep in peace. Since returning to church and school, I have struggled to keep the routine. But I tell you what, on the days that I do, I am not so irritated.
The Word of God is life and peace for us. In fact, one of the appointed psalms for today proclaimed: “Mercy and truth have met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other” (Psalm 85:10). Pay close attention: Even when you miss out on your devotions, even when life is a flurry of activity or clouded by anxiety and grief, God’s mercy and truth…his righteousness and peace accompany you through the day.
May it be so for you too,
Pastor Culynn
