Dear Friends in Christ –

On Sunday, Jesus used the birds and the grass as examples of God’s provision and care. On Sunday evening, with a sermon on worry still fresh in my head, I peeked out our front door. A rabbit had come to eat the crabapples that have blown off our tree. Even in the dead of winter, God is still providing for the needs of the natural world.
Psalm 8 reminds us: “God is mindful of humankind, and he cares for us, making us just lower than the heavenly beings and crowned with glory and honor.” If God is watching out for the birds and bunnies, “How much more will he care for you, O you of little faith?” In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus gives us his heavenly Father. God through Christ has secured our forgiveness and the gift of salvation. Certainly, then, God will see to it that your daily needs will be provided.
