It is amazing to me how quickly the holiday passes, and we move beyond the beauty and simplicity of Bethlehem. The shepherds couldn’t get over it quite so quickly. Saint Luke tells us: “The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen, as it had been told them” (Luke 2:20).
That’s the beauty of Christmas all these years later. Jesus makes his home, not in Bethlehem, but in the manger of your heart. You can leave Christmas behind, but Christ will not leave you. The mercy and joy of his birth will go with you in the days to come and into the New Year too. I pray the power of God’s love revealed in Bethlehem will continue to give you reasons to glorify and praise our Heavenly Father in the days ahead!
